Branding is Your Company’s Personality
As a designer, I do not design nor make your business’ brand. All I can do is take ideas, emotions, and concepts and transfer them into a visual representation of your brand idea. The rest is up to both you and your market.
Branding is a process dependent on the emotion an audience gains from interacting with your service or products. It’s your company’s image based on your marketing, business approach, values and percieved importance.
Consider some very popular brands you like or see everyday. How do you respond to those images? Do they bring you satisfaction or dismay based on how you have intereacted with them? Those emotions have evolved based on the brand’s advertising as well as your experience with the service or product.
It is that emotional interaction that a business’ brand wants to focus on when considering branding. What are the elements your audience will remember about you, your business and then your service/product? Once you understand what you want your market to gain from your business, you can start the process of branding it.

You Are Engaging In The “TMI” Factor
- I am not referring to the quantity of too much information, rather the quality. Your Business Fan Page (As well as Business Twitter Account) is about business, not deep intimate details of your personal life, not your dates, significant other’s gripes, personal nightlife, after party antics, office politics or personal problems. Fans/followers will drop you real fast as they get tired of the same ole tirads.
- Although you may want to share insights into who you are so your Fans may know you better, you do not want to share too much personal information that goes too far with either the Eww factor or the “I cannot believe he just posted that” response. Let us see who you are, but a healthy balance is critical to not offend your fanbase and followers.

Your Updates Are Negative
Presenting information with negative connotations, jaded viewpoints, and critical opinions may work for The Onion and satirical comedians…but in general, putting down the competition to gain your own footage is a poor method of marketing.
- Chronically complaining about daily grinds too often can also be a turn off and hurt your reputation and credibility. Turn a potential negative issue into a positive learning experience instead and share your knowledge for other businesses to learn from.
